Munich airport (MUC) started operation on May 17th, 1992. It is Germany´s second largest
airport. Today, all Star Alliance flights arrive and depart at Terminal 2, which was opened on June 29th, 2003.
Its wide, light and open steel-and-glass construction makes it a really comfortable place; its atmosphere is
calm and easeful – compared to the rather busty and fast-paced smaller airports like Berlin (SXF and TXL) for
example. The departure area (behind the security check), which we have not taken pictures of yet, is extremely large.
It is divided into two parts: EU flights and Non-EU flights. A really large number of stores and restaurants makes
it one of the least boring departure areas in the world; free coffee, tea and newspapers at the Lufthansa
gates as well as the large windows to the flight field make the traveler feel comfortable.
We took some pictures of this really impressing airport. You may use them for most private and commercial
purposes for free – for more information please have a look at the bottom of the page; you will find
a link to the Creative Commons License. Backlinks are greatly appreciated, but are not obligatory. All
pictures are available in high resolution; just click on one of them to open in a new window. Especially the
flightboards may be a cool desktop background...
If you come from a different part of the world and would like to see some more pictures here, please use
the comment-function at the bottom of the site. We will try to help you, if possible.
